Bob completed his initial loadmaster training with 37 Squadron in 1977. He flew operational on "A" models from 12Apr78 until they were retired on 25Sep78. Bob flew some 171.4 hours on 'A' Models with his last flight being on A97-202, a ferry flight to Laverton where the aircraft was parked in retirement/sale. For about three months in 1978, Bob was fully categorised on all three Hercules models.
